Every spring, we hear tough stories about people caught off guard by extreme weather—things like tornadoes, earthquakes, flash floods, and blizzards. These disasters can cause serious injuries and financial damage. And while most of the focus is on people (understandably), pets are often left out of the conversation.
Sure, once in a while you’ll see a heartwarming news story about a dog or cat being rescued—but for every one of those, there are many more we don’t hear about. After major storms, like hurricanes, we’ve seen how hard it is to get help for injured pets. Emergency services focus (rightly) on people, and even veterinarians might be out of reach or dealing with the disaster themselves.
But there are some pet owners who manage better in these situations—because they planned ahead. Just like you’d stock up on food, water, flashlights, and batteries, they included a pet first aid kit in their emergency supplies.
At first, it might not seem like a priority. After all, water and shelter feel more urgent. But anyone who’s had to clean a cut on a dog, stop bleeding from a bird’s feather, or give a struggling cat medicine knows that human first-aid supplies don’t always cut it.
We’ve been making pet first aid kits for over 30 years, so yes—we’re a little biased. But over and over, we hear from pet lovers who either wish they had a kit during a crisis, or are incredibly thankful they did.
So wherever you get your pet first aid kit, we just hope you’ll be in the second group: prepared and grateful, not caught off guard
